PhD project (UM)

Scientists and companies are permanently developing new health technologies. It is common practice nowadays to conceive of innovations as the interplay of technical, social and ethical aspects. Attuning their interaction throughout the development stages is likely to increase the benefit of the technology for society.

In her PhD research, Anna Wolters studied responsible research and innovation. She took an experimental vaccine for smoking cessation as a case. The thesis was published in 2017 and offers guidance for further research into lifestyle vaccination as therapy for ‘unhealthy’ behaviours. The dissertation also provides ethical and social insights for future public health policies.
